Make It Mondays: Polaroid Masking

For my CR84FN post, click HERE.
For my JUGS post, click HERE.

My mojo's taken a hit lately. I'm finding it hard to get inspired. I guess that's how it goes though… it seems to be somewhat cyclical. Up one week, down the next.
For example, I really wanted to make something for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge - the Polaroid masking technique, but the engine just wasn't turning.
Not a gig.
So I decided to go back to one of my most favorite stamp sets. One I haven't touched in a long time... Boards and Beams (PTI). I love the houses in this set.

That did the trick :) This set made my engine PURRRRR! The house and tree are colored with Copics and a white gel pen used for the trim. The card base is stamped with various sentiments from Boards and Beams in tea dye Distress Ink and text stamped in white.

Hope you all are enjoying your Independence Day Weekend!!! Happy 4th to all my American friends!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

CR84FN #33

For my JUGS post, please click HERE :)

Thanks so much for sharing all the gorgeous projects with us during the last CR84FN challenge! WOW! So many fabulous creations!

We've got new colors over at CR84FN!!! Take a gander at this irresistible combination...

The gorgeous inspiration photos come courtesy of Martha Stewart

I wanted to model a card after one I saw on Lucy's Cards HERE. I just fell in love with this Vintage Couple Digital stamp from Hero Arts. I bought mine from Two Peas in a Bucket. Wanna know a great thing about digis aside from the fact that you can manipulate them? INSTANT GRATIFICATION, baby! You download it and can play right away :)

I did two takes of this card;

The first one is on cream but printed in black and on a black base.

The second card was also printed on cream cardstock but in a sepia tone. Isn't this stamp just AWSOME?!

Remember that the challenges are running for two weeks until September but will have an injection of inspiration next weekend so be sure to check back! NOTE: CR84FN #33 will be ending on Thurs., July 14 (one day early). Can't wait to see what you create!!!

JUGS #91 - Gettin' Sketchy

Time to get sketchy with Just Us Girls! Kathryn's got a fabulous sketch for you…
But first, we have a brand new guest designer for the month of July! I am so excited because this gal is AMAZINGLY gifted and a most WONDERFUL person. I am SO glad she is sharing her talents with us this month! Welcome Christina MacLaren from Sea Glass & Sentiments! YAY!!!

On to our sketch...

For my card, I flipped the awesome sketch on it's side :)

I got the inspiration for my card from my SUPER talented blog friend, Laurie, who made THIS AMAZING card. Mine hardly does hers justice, but after I saw the sketch, I couldn't get that card out of my head, so I decided to go with it :) I also used the Play Date Cafe's most recent color palette for inspiration.

Check out the rest of the JUGS DT for INCREDIBLE inspiration!

Happy Canada Day!!!

Hello my peeps!

HaPpY CaNaDa DaY to all my Canadian friends!!!

I made a card to honor the creation of our nation (I just rhymed :)). On July 1, 1867, the Constitution Act joined 4 British colonies to form Canada; Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec. Other provinces joined in the years following. My home province, Newfoundland and Labrador, was one of the last provinces to enter Confederation on March 31, 1949, thus officially becoming a part of Canada (until that time it was a British colony; I believe my Dad was actually born a British citizen but following Confederation became a Canadian :)).

I die cut a leaf, stamped the veins and pattern, then clear embossed. For fun texture, I crinkled the leaf a bit to create lines. Had to make it in the colors of the Canadian flag :)

If you look closely, you'll see the words to "Oh Canada" printed in the background. I simply copied the lyrics to a word processing document then printed it on cardstock.

Happy birthday to my home in the great white north!!!!

Thinking of you

Hi all. Super quick post. I managed some speed card making time tonight for the latest CAS-ual Fridays Challenge.

I used my super-dy duper new Botanical Silhouettes stamp set (the 2011 PTI Anniversary Set)... LOVE!

I did something with this card that I rarely do - I tore the edges of the paper. Be still my symmetry-lovin', straight-edged heart :) Although I did sort of do it with the assistance of a ruler… I can't be too random now :) See the little clear dots? I added some drops of Glossy Accents for a little something different - kinda like dew drops…
Hope you are all having a fabulous week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

DeNami Sneak Peeks - Day 2

Let the festivities continue!!! It's day 2 of the new DeNami Release and I couldn't be more excited!!! Hope you are too!

I'm sure you've had a chance to see the fantastic Halloween stamps that were peeked yesterday and are still in awe. The new collection ROCKS!!!!

Case in point….
The ornamental flowers are FAAABULOUS!!!! Seriously versatile and so darn cute!!!!

For my first card, I've used the P50 Ornamental Flowers Petit Four. I really could NOT get enough of these little sweeties.

I stamped each of the four stamps on panels of different colors in Versamark, then I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I combined a sentiment from an older set, Everyday Greetings. Aren't the different images wonderful?

The next card uses one image from the Ornamental Flowers set.

I stamped the image repeatedly down one side of the kraft cardstock and heat embossed in black. Then I colored them in with a white Gelly Roll pen as well as a green Spica glitter pen. Another DeNami oldie but a goodie, Thinking of You, was also stamped and heat embossed in black. The card is topped off with white grosgrain ribbon from DeNami. I love the simplicity of this card as well as the striking white flowers against the kraft. It looks so… pure.

For my last card, I again used one selected image from the Ornamental Flowers line up and stamped it three times then heat embossed in black. I outlined the centers of the flowers with my white Gelly Roll pen and finished off the centers with silver pearls. The Whimsical Oval Frame is stamped on a die cut and placed on top of a black, die cut doily. The sentiment, Thank You, is from the Assorted Greetings Petit Four

I finished it off with a little white grosgrain ribbon. I love the black, white and red. Such a classy color combo. I think this last card is my favorite :)

Before you go, make sure to leave a comment for a chance to WIN!!!!

You have TWO chances to win the stamps from the Ornamental Flowers Release. And, boy, are you gonna want to try to win these babys!!!!

I was inspired by the gradient colors and the cute little hooks :)

I used a new PTI goodie, my Happy Trails set :) I made the background with distress inks mixed with water and painted across watercolor paper. I love the way it turned out!!

Embellish Challenge: Rainbow Colors

***Addendum*** This post did not go live this am…Blogger…grrr. So sorry!!!

DeNami Design is sponsoring the latest Embellish Color Challenge!

I love the Embellish Challenges - I really wish there were more hours in the day for me to play along with all my favorite challenges… *sigh*

I actually made two cards. I really went outside of my normal, safe little box with these 3.25 x 6.5 cards :)

For the first card, I used DeNami's Congratulations script. The base has colored cardstock cut in small squares with a strip of double sided tape all glittered up.

For the second one, I stamped DeNami's Solid Polka Dot Border in all the colors of the rainbow. Then I added the sentiment Smile from the Heartfelt Petit Four. So cute :)

Hope you find time to play along with this fabulous challenge for a chance to win some DeNami awesomeness!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

DeNami Product Spotlight: Sparklers

For my CR84FN post, click HERE.
For my JUGS post, click HERE.

Hello all. Sorry for the lateness of the post but we had a storm early last evening and lost power. But we're back up and ready to go now :)
Today, in the DeNami Product spotlight, we have Sparklers! How perfect for the upcoming Independence Day celebration!

I made two cards with subtle variations on a red, white and blue color scheme.
For these cards I used the following DeNami products;
The star from the Outer Space Petit Four

For the stamp, I heat embossed the image with clear embossing powder. I had blue metallic acrylic paint that I diluted about 1 part paint to 3 parts water. Then I simply smeared the paint mixture over the image and dried it lightly with a paper towel (I lightly laid the paper towel on top then removed t as not to smear the ink). The sentiment in embossed in white. I really like how these turned out :)

Which one do you like better? I'm partial to the one with the red base :)

Make sure to see what the rest of the DeNami DT has in store!

My Friend

I recently acquired Wildflower Garden from PTI. I was so excited for it to arrive. Yet, it sat in my craftroom, waiting for me to ink up those fabulous images. I know, sad isn't it… :)

Finally, I made some time to formally introduce my ink and cardstock to what I'm sure will be a new favorite set. I really wanted to play along with CAS-ual Fridays since I missed the last installment.

The challenge this week is to use color blocking. I haven't done this technique much at all… but I sure do love it :) I actually made a few cards using color blocking - some will not be seen until a later date *wink*

I saw this color combo used by a member of the PTI DT and I love it (I think kraft may have been thrown into the mix too). The flower silhouettes were stamped with versamark and clear embossed. The sentiment is from the 2011 PTI Anniversary Set. The ribbon is plain ol' white seam binding with a scarlet jewel button to finish it off. I really like how it turned out :)

Thanks so much for all your sweet comments regarding the blog makeover! I surely appreciate it :)

CR84FN #32

For my JUGS post, please click HERE :)

Please do not adjust your monitor or navigate away thinking you have arrived at the wrong site! I have been suffering from "restless blog syndrome" and am testing a new template. Yup, it's a radical change, but I just love the serene image in the background and the simple 2 column layout of the blog. I do, however, wish I knew more about html… :)

Welcome back for another fantastic  CR84FN color installment! We have got a fresh, clean color palette this week that is just so fun! But we also have some more news to share… our dear, uber talented, fearless CR84FN challenge leader, Mona Pendleton, is having a birthday this coming week!!! Yes indeed! The creator and maintainer (I think that's a word…) of the challenge site that brings you the most fabulous color inspiration is celebrating and we are celebrating right along with her!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONA!!!!

I hope you have the best birthday week ever!!! Party hearty!!!! Thanks for everything you do! Make sure to take a moment to send Mona some birthday cheer!

Speaking of fun and festivities, how about these fabulous colors from CR84FN this week?!?!

The gorgeous inspiration photos come courtesy of Leslie at A Creative Mint. There is a whopping dose of inspiration on her site so make sure to swing by :)

If you're a regular visitor of Mona's blog, you probably know she loves tulips. So I figured I would send her some of these beautiful flowers for her birthday :)  I used one of my favorite stamps sets in the whole, wide world… Friendship Jar with the coordinating Spring Fillers from PTI!  I cut the jar from acetate for a little more of a glass-like appearance. The image is stamped on white cardstock and colored with my beloved Copic markers (I have an unhealthy obsession :)). The background was then stamped with Text (after wiping the stamp so it faded towards the middle) with walnut distress ink. Then I sponged Broken China Distress ink around the edges and finished off with some stitching.
