DeNami Product Spotlight: Large Mitten

Ready for a new DeNami Product Spotlight? It's a good 'un :)

This large mitten is so much fun! 


For this card, I used DeNami's Large Mitten, Let It Snow sentiment, Medium Lacy Flake, and the snowflake from the Holiday Petit Four. I colored the mitten with topic markers and used liquid appliqué for the cuff. To get the texture on the mitt, I used an piece of an old shirt soaked in colorless blender. Kinda cozy :)

DeNami Product Spotlight: Small Jack O Lantern

Time for a new, SPOOKTACULAR DeNami Product Spotlight!


This little fella was so cute, I decided to make him the star of a spooky, Halloween scene :)



I used the following DeNami Products on this card;
Our lovely spotlight stamp - Small Jack O Lantern
Leaf Green Cardstock
Happy Halloween

I started by masking a circle on white card stock, then sponging distress ink on the card stock to create the night sky. I stamped and embossed the tree then I cut two circles from green card stock to make the hills. The houses and jack o lantern were also embossed, colored with copics, then cut out. 

I really like how this turned out… so cute, I mean, SPOOOOKY :)

How about a new DeNami Product Spotlight?!


Do you like apples? How do you like this apple? :)

We're spotlighting this sweet little DeNami apple today. I found the loveliest inspiration photo on Pinterest and just had to use it for my card…


I pulled out the ol' Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamped this bad boy repeatedly on white card stock.  Then I used my Copics to color the apples in a gradient - gosh, I just love a gradient color scheme!!!

I liked this cute little apple so much I just kept on creating!

I stamped these cuties on patterned paper for some paper piecing fun!

Before I continue, today is also a day to remember… I can't believe it's been 10 years since so many lives were irrevocably changed by the events of September 11th. It's been both inspiring and terribly sad to see some of the stories of the people affected by the tragedies. Such catastrophic acts of hate but so amazing to see the stories of triumph in spite of it all. Wishing you all peace, love and happiness!

Make It Mondays: Polaroid Masking

My mojo's taken a hit lately. I'm finding it hard to get inspired. I guess that's how it goes though… it seems to be somewhat cyclical. Up one week, down the next. 
For example, I really wanted to make something for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge - the Polaroid masking technique, but the engine just wasn't turning. 
Not a gig. 
So I decided to go back to one of my most favorite stamp sets. One I haven't touched in a long time... Boards and Beams (PTI). I love the houses in this set. 


That did the trick :) This set made my engine PURRRRR! The house and tree are colored with Copics and a white gel pen used for the trim. The card base is stamped with various sentiments from Boards and Beams in tea dye Distress Ink and text stamped in white.

JUGS#87 Sketch Challenge

Howdy!
Kathryn is our hostess this week at Just Us Girls and she has got a CRAFTILISCIOUS sketch for you to sink your teeth into!


How's that for AWESOMENESS!!! I love this sketch! So much room for interpretation…
But before I go much further, we've got a new guest designer for June. Please give a warm welcome to the sweet and super talented Rosemary Dennis from Hey There Rosiegirl!!! I've long admired Rosemary's creations - she makes the most fabulous cards! Welcome Rosemary!!!!

I made two, CAS cards with this fabby inspiration. Sometimes I have a hard time with sketches - this one primed my crafty pumps!


When I saw the sketch, it seemed perfect for an interpretation of a Venn Diagram! I used the colors from the latest ColourQ challenge. 

So sweet and fun :)
To make this card, I did the following;
1. Cut two different sized circles from thin paper (copier paper) to act as a mask
2. Used YR09, Y35 and RV17 to air brush three circles
3. A white gel pen was used to draw the faux stitching
4. Heat embossed the sentiment with white powder after stamping with Versamark

I LOVE the way it turned out and will try it again with primary colors on white cardstock to get the "red + blue = purple" kinda effect.

The second card is a more "loose" interpretation of the sketch. To put it mildly :)


I did the following to make this little ditty;
1. Stamp branches in place of the circles
2. Add blossoms (they were initially inked with aqua ink then the edges were inked with a darker blue)
3. Stamp the sentiment in dark blue ink
4. Dry emboss the card front with linen impression plate (I SERIOUSLY love that plate!!!)
5. Distress the edges with Antique linen distress ink

Here's a close up of the fabulous linen impression plate :)


I liked how soft and understated this card turned out.

Flowers

May is the month when many flowers finally go into full bloom after a long winter's sleep.  For the blog hop this month we want to see your favorite take on flowers.  You can stamp backgrounds, create custom floral embellishments, showcase unique flower center additions (buttons, rhinestones, beads, etc...), flowers die-cut from different materials (like fabric, felt, vellum, etc...) or anything else you can dream up!  We are looking forward to seeing all of your amazing creations!

What a great challenge! I just got my PTI goodies two days ago so I could't wait to use 'em! After seeing the WM Sketch challenge this week, an idea popped in my head.


I took 11 of the 12 flowers from the Year of Flowers Collection, colored them and cut them out with circle nesties. The card base is embossed with woodgrain - it's a bit hard to see in the picture. The sentiment is from the oldie but goodie, Garden of Life. I was pretty happy with how this turned out!

Ready for a fabulous, purplicious CR84FN color challenge? MMMMMM, purple….


 The gorgeous inspiration photos come courtesy of Martha Stewart - aren't they just delectable?!

These colors just screamed out for violets :) 


I just love the effect of coloring on kraft :) I stamped the violets on kraft and embossed in white. Then I colored with Copics. It's so therapeutic. I loved coloring as a child and it was so fun to realize how much I love doing it as an adult.
