Make It Mondays: Polaroid Masking

My mojo's taken a hit lately. I'm finding it hard to get inspired. I guess that's how it goes though… it seems to be somewhat cyclical. Up one week, down the next.
For example, I really wanted to make something for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge - the Polaroid masking technique, but the engine just wasn't turning.
Not a gig.
So I decided to go back to one of my most favorite stamp sets. One I haven't touched in a long time... Boards and Beams (PTI). I love the houses in this set.

That did the trick :) This set made my engine PURRRRR! The house and tree are colored with Copics and a white gel pen used for the trim. The card base is stamped with various sentiments from Boards and Beams in tea dye Distress Ink and text stamped in white.

Hope you all are enjoying your Independence Day Weekend!!! Happy 4th to all my American friends!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I was having one of those days.

You're probably thinking I mean a bad day.

Not at all. Instead, it was a day where I experienced a bit of perspective. Those are good days :) Tend to lose that perspective once and a while.

I was walking my boy, Spencer this afternoon. It was drizzling a little the air was cool. I breathed deeply and smelled the honeysuckle - gosh I love that smell. Spencer was trotting around sniffing; he loves these little walks. And I reflected as we walked and realized how much I loved it too. I have so much to be thankful for and life is wonderful.

I need those kind of moments on occasion.

So I made a card to reflect my contemplative mood :)

It's for the latest Make It Monday Challenge (to make your own glimmer mist) and Play Date Cafe color challenge.

Here's my card.

I made my own glimmer mist using perfect pearls (white) and a few drops of Simply Chartreuse mixed with water in a mini mister. I spritzed it over watercolor paper - I think it helped the color look a little richer although it is harder to see the glimmer. I took a pic to try to show the glittery sheen...

Before stamping the leaves, I kissed the inked up leaves (smokey shadow) against a damask pattern stamp. Sadly, the damask pattern didn't make it onto the paper… it still looks kinda neat :) I used dark grey cardstock to outline the watercolor paper and light grey (soft stone) as the base (sorry, it doesn't show up well against the white background… a duh moment LOL!).

I colored the seam binding with Glimmer Mist… and spilled some. Below is the result of my clean up efforts...

LOL! It's faded a bit now but still pretty funny :) Anywho, I've gone on long enough! Have a great day. Don't forget to take a moment to look around and take in life :)

The sun will come out...

For my JUGS post, please click HERE.

Are you singing yet?

I can't help myself. Even reading that line…the song comes a' belting out. It's just one of those tunes.

I've got a card to share for the next CAS-ual Fridays and Make it Mondays Challenges. The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to use buttons and twine while the MIM challenge is selective inking.

So, on to my card.

I wanted to make a bakers twine sun. To make my rays in varying lengths and make sure they are round, I used two nesties and alternated punching holes on either side. Hopefully you can see the holes in the picture below.

I die cut two clouds out of fun foam and inked them up with white pigment ink for the background (Thanks to Laurie for the inspiration!).  Then I cut a couple out of white cardstock for some dimension. For the MIM part of the card, I selectively inked "The sun will come out… Tomorrow" from Scattered Showers onto vellum.

Whadya think?!

Make It Monday - Impression plate tricks

For my JUGS post, click HERE.

Hey, hey, hey!!!

Quickie post to share my Make It Monday card. The challenge this week is to use impression plates and dies in interesting ways. And it is fun - what a neat effect!

I used the diamond impression plate along with the angled labels die and stamps. Then I stamped the uber cute floral fusion #1. It's hard to tell from the pictures but the pink color is raspberry fizz (flower and card base).

Back again soon with another CR84FN color challenge!!!

Making an impression

Hello all!

Gotta a quick pre-Easter weekend post. This card utilizes the newest Make It Monday Challenge which is to emboss with dies. I've really only ever done this with Spellbinders dies so was intrigued with the possibility of using PTI dies to emboss.

For color inspiration, I used Heather's latest Totally Hues color palette - so FABULOUS!

I am loving the turning a new leaf dies!!!

I embossed the lemon tart background with the largest Turning a New Leaf die to create the embossing. Then I used the leaf die to cut leaves from simply chartreuse cardstock. The cute little roses were created by cutting a spiral from raspberry fizz cardstock - there's a tutorial HERE at Kay's Kreative Korner. The butterfly from Love Lives Here was cut from aqua mist polka dot paper and vellum. The vellum butterfly was then embossed with the alphabet impression plate. The butterfly is popped up on a dimensional and pink glitter was added to the center heart. I just realized how little I actually stamped on this card :) Just the sentiment really.

Anywho, hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend. Any big plans? We've got Easter brunch plans with friends and some spring home improvement projects :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Oh, Delightful Dahlias!

Quick post folks! It's been a while since I had time to play along with a challenge apart from my DT obligations and tonight, I found a few extra moments :) YAY!
I made this card for PTI's Make It Monday (use color on colored cardstock) and the Totally Hues color challenge.

I embossed multiple Dahlias on raspberry fizz cardstock then outlined it with a RV19 Copic marker. The yellow dahlia was die cut from lemon tart cardstock and embossed in white. I used Y21 and Y26 markers to add shadows. The leaves were die cut from new leaf cardstock, embossed in white and shadowed with YG13 and YG17. I stamped my brand spankin' new gingham background in plum pudding onto white cardstock and die cut it with the Mat Stack 4 die. Oh how I love this new background stamp!!! To offset the mat stack and flower from the background, I used an embossed piece of vellum.

Gotta run! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stopping in really quickly with a card for Papertrey Ink's new Make It Mondays challenge!

This week, we were challenged to use sentiments and make a Go-To Sentiment card. Fun!

I used a combo of ocean tides, aqua mist, and lemon tart. I stamped my various sentiments in aqua mist to create the background. The yellow and ocean tides sentiments are stamped on vellum and stitched to the bottom layer with aqua thread. Finish off with a few lemon tart buttons and Voila!

Have a happy start to the week! Thanks so much for stopping by!
