Pure poppy

*** ADDENDUM: I'm such a forgetful person lately - Argh!!!! I forgot to post the fact that I used Mercy's Tuesday sketch for this card. DUH! I'm to late to enter for the favs but I did love the sketch and thought it was perfect for what I had in mind. The sketch itself is posted below my card. Silly me... ***

Hi ya!

Had a nice relaxing Saturday - slept in a little, went to the gym, surfed the web, cleaned a little, then shopped at the local scrapbook superstore :)

I had the opportunity to play a little in my craft room this evening and came up with this little number for the latest ColourQ challenge.

I made the poppy using the nesties poppy dies. Once I had them cut from the pure poppy cardstock (PTI) cut each of the petals close to the center, overlapped and fixed in place with glue. I then used a piece of black felt, also cut with the poppy die, and a yellow brad to finish off the center. The poppy was dry embossed with the linen impression plate from PTI for a little texture.

It also qualifies for;
Crazy for Challenges - paper flowers
A Spoon Full of Sugar - sunshiny colors
Crafty Anne's Challenge - embossing
Lord Have Mercy - Tuesday sketch

Also, Annabelle Stamps has a new stamp release happening soon. They're offering a chance to win a free stamp set over at there blog -> HERE. Check it out!!!

Have a great weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Mom's Birthday Card

Evening all!
Thought I would use the color inspiration for the latest Play Date Cafe Challenge to make a card for my Mom's upcoming birthday. I used this week's  Crazy 4 Challenges sketch for inspiration.
I wanted to use the fantastic DP from Basic Grey (Wassail Sleigh Ride) - it looks like toile and the color is perfect for the challenge.

The red, scalloped cardstock was stamped in text with Spring rain for a subtle look, however, it didn't translate in the photo... boo.... Looks much better IRL. The flower is made of tissue paper that was inked with colorbox pigment ink.

This card also applies for the following challenges;
Gingersnap Creations - Celebrate
La La Land Crafts Challenge - Make your own flowers
Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge - Another birthday challenge
Crafty Ann's Challenge - Make something for someone special
Crafty Calendar Challenge - Flower power

I'll be back tomorrow night with another card, this time for the latest PIO challenge, among others :) Thanks so much for stopping by!

Pretty in pink

Happy Sunday folks! Well, it was happy, up until about 6 pm, when the AFC Championship game ended and so did the Jets playoff run. *Sniff*
I consoled myself by heading to my craft room. I made a card for the new Crazy 4 Challenges which is to make a card using pink as the predominant color. I had a baby girl card in mind when I started but it morphed into a general card. So much for plans :)

I'm loving cardstock flowers! They are cut with the nesties blossoms dies then hand crumpled. Mona has a tutorial on her blog (Cupcake's Creations) for tissue paper flowers and that's where I first came across this embellishment. She has the most stunning flowers and, well, creations in general - you can't help but be inspired :) And, let me tell you, I've used the heck out of those flowers since coming across them :)
Well, thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back in a day or two with a little something for the newest JUGs and Play date cafe challenges.

I'm baaaaack.......

Wow - it has been a loooong time since I last posted. My poor, neglected blog.....
First off, I want to wish each and everyone of you and yours a wonderful 2010!
I had a WONDERFUL holiday with my family - it was extended by a few days thanks to Continental airlines (they canceled a flight so it took a few days to find a series of flights to get me back to Knoxville). But how can I complain about an extended vacation :)
No that I'm back it's time to start papercrafting again!
I'm gonna cheat a little on this post though, as I only arrived home last Wed (late) and we had company for a few days so I haven't created anything since I returned. But in my desire to want to post SOMETHING, I decided to post this card I made a while back, for no particular challenge but it fits for this week's Crazy 4 Challenges. The challenge is to create a birthday card.

Now to get back into the swing of things and start creating again :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!

TTFN,

Are there awards for bad bloggers?

'Cause I think I could win one :) I can't believe it's been 6 days since my last post - where does the time go? The start of this month has been slow form me creatively. But, like everyone else, it's a-go, go, go in terms of other aspects. That beings said, I do LOVE this time of year so I really don't mind the hustle and bustle :)
I had time this evening to head to the ol' craft room. And, boy, did I make use of it. Got glue on my fingers and I'm COVERED in glitter from all the furious crafting :) Fun, fun, fun! So hold on tight 'cause I have a few projects to share tonight.
The first card I'm sharing is for Mojo Monday #116. I wasn't sure if I'd get to this one or not but, yay, I managed to fit it in!

I think it tuned out ok but it's a far busier card than I normally create. There's lots going on :) If I had it to do over again, I'd likely tone down the guide lines background for something a bit simpler given all the other patterns I have on here. I did use one of my fav seasonal color combos - raspberry fizz and new leaf (Papertrey Ink). I also used vintage cream and spring moss. The poinsettia is from the Papertrey Ink Peaceful Poinsettia set - I stamped it on some DP from DCWAV several times, cut them out and layered with dimensionals. The guidelines background would have been pretty all on it's own without the stuff over top. Ya live, ya learn...

I used the sweet snow angel Henry stamp (see THIS POST for details about the Henry stamp) - I absolutely adore this image! I colored him with copics and added some Martha Stewart clear glitter to the snow. The colors are from Papertrey Ink and are white, spring rain, lavender moon, and plum pudding. The snowflake was stamped with ColorBox blue pigment ink.
The final project is for Crazy for Challenges - I'm down to the wire on that challenge :) The challenge this week was to create gift card packaging. Here's what I came up with...

It's a gift card holder for a baby (thank you, captain obvious :)). Something not Christmas-y. Cardstock is from Papertrey Ink (Kraft, lemon tart) and the DP is from DCWAV. The stamp set is bitty baby blessings from Papertrey Ink.
Whew! Hopefully I'll have a few more projects to share tomorrow or Sunday. I also have some gift boxes I made for the folks at work - I'll share those too.
Thanks a bunch for stopping by! TGIF!

3-D Challenge

Still recovering from my cold but at least felt like stamping a little today.
Just Us Girls is challenging us to go 3-D this week; in other words, make a project from a template.

I haven't tried many of these yet although I have purchased a few of Lauren Meader's absolutely fabulous timeless templates. I really wanted to use the Tucked Away template (which I had bought a long time ago and have not used) as it is a perfect, small gift box. Actually, I wanted to play around with it to come up with a design to mass produce for the folks at work to give as little Christmas gifts (filled with candy:) ). Actually, I got a bit carried away and made two boxes..... :)
First up is my Christmas-y take;

Below is a closer view of the top of the box. Although it's hard to tell in the picture but it's actually a candy cut with my Cricut using the Christmas Cheer cartridge (and crinkled up in my hand to give it some texture) with pure poppy and sweet blush buttons in the center. I used vintage cream for the base, which is stamped with faux ribbon in sweet blush and memento lady bug. The top panel is pure poppy stamped with polka dot basics in vintage cream. The candy cane ribbon is from my stash.

Also made a co-ordinating card... very simple.

Although I like how this turned out it was a bit more labour intensive that I would like for mass production so I'll re-think it a bit :)
Next is a set I plan to use for a friend - I have a bracelet for her birthday next year so it'll go really well in the petite version of the Tucked Away template. This set also qualifies for Crazy for Challenges week 13, which is to use punches on a project.

I love the new terra cotta color from Papertrey Ink! So I paired it with dark chocolate, new leaf and summer sunrise. A fall color palette but one I love :)  Below is a closer view of the daisy (fiskars punch) on top.

The card below is a 4x4 co-ordinating gift card.

I had forgotten how addictive these templates were to make!!!! I have to make more. I really like the samples of the Fold n' Go template I've seen too so I may have to add that one to my next purchase.
Hope you're having a great beginning to the week. Thanks for stopping by!

Eat cake...

Quickie post tonight - my poor hubby is sick. I'm trying to help while also trying to stay clear of the illness. Ah, the fine line...
My card is for Crazy for Challenges # 12.

I made a birthday-type card. I had this DP from basicgrey nook and pantry which goes perfectly with the Papertrey Ink's Cupcake Collection. I really, really wanted to use new leaf and/or lemon tart because I hardly ever use these colors. I stamped the cupcake and colored it with copics (E59, E57, E55, Y28, Y21) then placed a cherry on top :). I colored around the cupcake with Y000 to give a glowy effect, however, it appears that I still have some learning to do with that technique :) It looks a bit more like yellow-stained paper. And the photos... well, let's just say there's a photo tent on my Christmas wish list :)

Well, that's all folks. Thanks for stopping by!

Glitter and acetate

Hello folks!
Tonight I've got another challenge card to share. This one is for Crazy for Challenges week 11 - the challenge was to use acetate. I went pretty simple with this one. I really wanted to make a shaker card - not sure why ultimately I didn't but there you have it :) I'll try one soon...

I'm not really good with acetate I have to say - I seem to always get something on it, like glue and create a smudgy mess :) I don't have sheets right now - I just recycle a few acetate boxes that my PTI stamps came in. I really do like the look of the acetate cards I've seen so perhaps I'll have to order some full sheets soon and give it another go.
Anywho, I stamped my images on acetate with white Stazon. Then I used glossy accents to adhere the glitter (Martha Stewart brownstone and carnelian) on the stamped side of the acetate. After it dried I flipped it over and adhered it to a frame cut from dark chocolate cardstock (PTI) using nesties. The frame cardstock was stamped with a floral flourish and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The background paper is textured cardstock with dry embossing. The tag was cut with a nestis and I sponged the edges with PTI vintage touch duo chai. I used oranze zest bitty swiss dot ribbon (PTI) and orange zest buttons to attach the label. The base and background for the frame is kraft cardstock.
Wow, wordy desciption :)
Have a good one :) Thanks so much for stopping by!

First easel card...

I'll definitely make another! This was really fun and a really nice layout. It was actually much simpler than I thought, thanks to the awesome instructions provided in a link on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Their challenge this week is to make an easel card. The direct link to the instructions can be found ===> HERE. Really detailed, fantastic instructions!
I wanted to make another thank you card - I just seem to go through tons of those :) I'll have to make a variety of other cards to keep in my stash - definitely more masculine cards. Don't have many of those at all.

I used a favorite color combination - aqua mist and chocolate. The DP was the Manhattan Collection from Autumn Leaves. The stamp is..... ummmm, don't remember brand but I did get it in the dollar bin at Michaels. Again, fun, easy card.
This is my second post and second challenge card of the day! Productive, at least card-making wise :)
Thanks for taking the time to stop for a look-see!

Welcome sweet baby!

We found out recently that two sets of good friends are expecting their third child (or children, or child.... oh, grammar...). What exciting news!!!
In lieu of such good news, I decided to make a few baby cards. Not knowing the sex yet, I went with more of a girly theme for the first few. I'll probably make a few boys cards in the near future, just to cover my basis :)
The card is made for Crazy for Challenges Week 8. The challenge was geometry; use three of any shape on the card. I kept mine pretty simple but I did use 4 circles :)

Again, a fairly simple card but I like the end result. Plus, it was easy to put together, especially after my marathon Mojo Monday card :)
Thanks so much for stopping by for a looky-loo :) I really appreciate it!
TTFN,
