Giving thanks

Fall is in full force here in eastern TN. The mountains are just ablaze with reds, oranges, and yellows - it's just amazing! And inspiring :)

I've got a fall-themed card to share. I used this week's fabulous ColourQ challenge colors - aren't they great?

For the layout, I went with the lovely Annabelle Stamps sketch.

And here's the end result.

All right, y'all. That's all I've got for now. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Candy corn!

For my JUGS post, click HERE :)

At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon, I'm going to say I'm not really a Halloween person. I mean, I like it well enough and I love seeing kids decked out in their costumes, but as for dressing up myself... meh.  I used to love it as a kid and even into my early twenties; not so much anymore. I think if we had children I would really love it all over again, but until that day, I will remain "meh" about Halloween :)
I do love seeing all the Halloween projects made by all my fellow bloggers though! There's some amazingly talented people out there. So much talent, in fact, I was inspired to give Halloween another shot :)
I made a card for the lovely Annabelle Sketch Challenge using this week's fantastic Curtain Call colors.

Here's a close up...

I used Clear and Simple Spooky Sweets for the candy corn and sentiments. I colored the candies with Copics, cut too out and popped them up for dimension. On closer inspection of my candy corn I can see the one on the left is mildly askew - Oops :) I did use grey and black - the grey is the card base and mat for the orange - it looks a bit dark in the photo so I thought I'd mention it :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Colorful happy birthday

Tonight I've got a colorful card that (hopefully :)) works for a number of challenges. I was inspired by Arielle's card and this card by Maile Belles. I loved Maile's card so much that I'm definitely going to CASE it later - it is CAS and fabulous :)

The sketch comes from the latest Annabelle Stamps Challenge....
And fits with the latest Compose a Card with Becky Oehlers!
The color inspiration was provided by the latest Colour Q challenge.... well, I cheated a little and used kraft to fit with another challenge; so I didn't actually submit the card for the challenge itself.

I cut 9 blossoms from a piece of kraft cardstock. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but I used the PTI polka dot impression plate on a piece of white cardstock behind the kraft cardstock mat. The embossed polka dots don't show up as well as they do IRL. The card looked like it needed something else but I resisted the urge as I didn't want to push things over the edge :)
Anyway, short post - I have a few things to do before bed, including fix mt meals for tomorrow. I've got to focus on my diet more; recent bloodwork has revealed I have high cholesterol and trigylcerides - YIKES! Just another sign I'm not as young as I used to be - as much as I love food, I'm gonna have to curb my eating habits. Of course I'll find time to tune into the Papertrey release party :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thinking of you

Quick post tonight. Got lots to do :)
Meet my card for this weeks Annabelle Stamps sketch challenge.... but I missed the deadline darn it! I've GOT to get more organized...

I altered the sketch slightly - as it was going to be a sympathy card, I did't want to add any bling on the bottom so I just stamped some text in versamark. The tree and sentiment are from Papertrey Ink - Through the Trees. It's a new release and it's wonderful!!! The tree trunk was stamped in versamark and heat embossed with clear powder. I also stamped the leaves with versamark but waited a while prior to applying the embossing powder - I was trying to make the leaves a little lighter and it worked a bit :) I though that smokey shadow ink would work for the sentiment, but it turned out a tad too light... booo :( I didn't want to ruin it by trying to stamp it again with a different color - as I've said before, you live, you learn.
Have a great evening!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!

So excited!

Good evening folks!
Got some exciting news I'd love to share with you all - I received an email from Dalis over at the Pile it on! Challenge blog asking if I would like to be on the design team!!!! Lil ol' me :)
I'm so excited and honored that the gals over there would consider asking me. I really looking forward to contributing to the challenges and making new cyber friends. I am super psyched about the experience in general. So, sincerely ladies, thank you so much for this opportunity - I really appreciate it!
Since I didn't want to just post and run, I made a super quick card for Annabelle Stamps Sketch Challenge #9. This week has been CrAzY for me - so much to do at work. We just got back from vacation and I am trying to catch up at work while also trying to get ahead to cover my basis while we're away in Orlando. I know, right? It's a conundrum. The hubs and I (along with wonderful friends) are heading down that way for a 5 day conference; however, my friend and I will probably be having more fun than attending meetings - and I'm ok with that :) Bet by this time, your wondering "when will she get to her card?" - well wonder no more....

This card also qualifies for the Just Us Girls challenge #15 which is to put stitching on a card. Yeah!

So there it is - what started as a super busy, don't-know-where-to-start kinda week suddenly became more a ton more bearable due to some super awesome news from the Pile it on! group :) Thanks again ladies!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Are there awards for bad bloggers?

'Cause I think I could win one :) I can't believe it's been 6 days since my last post - where does the time go? The start of this month has been slow form me creatively. But, like everyone else, it's a-go, go, go in terms of other aspects. That beings said, I do LOVE this time of year so I really don't mind the hustle and bustle :)
I had time this evening to head to the ol' craft room. And, boy, did I make use of it. Got glue on my fingers and I'm COVERED in glitter from all the furious crafting :) Fun, fun, fun! So hold on tight 'cause I have a few projects to share tonight.
The first card I'm sharing is for Mojo Monday #116. I wasn't sure if I'd get to this one or not but, yay, I managed to fit it in!

I think it tuned out ok but it's a far busier card than I normally create. There's lots going on :) If I had it to do over again, I'd likely tone down the guide lines background for something a bit simpler given all the other patterns I have on here. I did use one of my fav seasonal color combos - raspberry fizz and new leaf (Papertrey Ink). I also used vintage cream and spring moss. The poinsettia is from the Papertrey Ink Peaceful Poinsettia set - I stamped it on some DP from DCWAV several times, cut them out and layered with dimensionals. The guidelines background would have been pretty all on it's own without the stuff over top. Ya live, ya learn...

I used the sweet snow angel Henry stamp (see THIS POST for details about the Henry stamp) - I absolutely adore this image! I colored him with copics and added some Martha Stewart clear glitter to the snow. The colors are from Papertrey Ink and are white, spring rain, lavender moon, and plum pudding. The snowflake was stamped with ColorBox blue pigment ink.
The final project is for Crazy for Challenges - I'm down to the wire on that challenge :) The challenge this week was to create gift card packaging. Here's what I came up with...

It's a gift card holder for a baby (thank you, captain obvious :)). Something not Christmas-y. Cardstock is from Papertrey Ink (Kraft, lemon tart) and the DP is from DCWAV. The stamp set is bitty baby blessings from Papertrey Ink.
Whew! Hopefully I'll have a few more projects to share tomorrow or Sunday. I also have some gift boxes I made for the folks at work - I'll share those too.
Thanks a bunch for stopping by! TGIF!

Raspberry fizz, poinsettias and glitter

Quick post - have a card to share for the latest Annabelle Stamps sketch challenge

I am lovin' raspberry fizz as a non-traditional seasonal color. I used stamps sets from Papertrey Ink; Peaceful Poinsettia and Merry and Bright for the sentiment. I tried Dawn McVey's technique of scortape and glitter and I really like it.  I went with clear glitter for a more subtle look.
Enjoy your Friday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

The tale of two challenges

Sounds dramatic, huh?
It was cold and rainy here today - managed to get the pooches out for a walk prior to the start of the rain though, which is nice. Spent the rest of the day cleaning and making this awesome pumpkin chocolate chip loaf that Amy Schultz shared on her blog a while back. It is SUPER easy and SOOOOO YUMMY! You should check it out! I'm making it for a "food day" at work tomorrow.

On to my card...
Saturday brought a new Just Us Girls challenge (love this blog and all the gals involved!!!) - they have a wonderful color challenge this time round. I tried to double up the challenges and try a new one, Annabelle Stamps sketch challenge #3. They've still got blog candy available - today is the last day to sign up.

I wanted to make another easel card 'cause they're so much fun! I bought this pumpkin stamp by Stampabilities on sale at Hobby Lobby and decided to ink it up. I colored it with copics (Y32, Y38, YR09). I don't have my Papertrey Ink order yet (I think the new Terracotta color would have been perfect for the rust :)) so I subbed textured rust cardstock from the stash. How great is this color combo? My color-challenged mind would never have thought of putting the blue with the orange - but I love this combo! It will make a reappearance fo' sho'.
Hope you and yours are having a relaxing Sunday evening. Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
