Tuesday Trigger

This is my second post today - Scroll down for my Just Us Girls post :)

I FINALLY got some creative time this afternoon and I went C-R-A-Z-Y :) I crafted my little ol' heart out.

So much so that I actually made a card for the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World! My first one evah! Yay me :)

Here's the mojo-licious inspiration picture...

And here's my take on the photo.

I took my inspiration mainly from the colors and the fabric. I die cut a poinsettia from kraft card stock then backed the area with a piece of fabric. I placed a thinner piece of card stock under the kraft and stitched around most of the poinsettia, leaving a small gap to stuff it with polyfill for a bit of dimension. Then I stitched the gap closed and stitched a border around the card. The stitching also gives it a bit of a rustic feel, kinda like the inspiration photo :)

JUGS #113 - Sketch Challenge

Howdy all! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Sorry I've been so silent over the past week - it's been a hectic week. So hectic, I let my fellow JUGheads down and missed the sketch challenge hosted by the lovely Elsie over Just Us Girls :(

But I managed to whip up a card today in an attempt to correct the error of my ways… Before I move on to my card, please help me welcome our super-talented, lovely December guest designer, Lenet!!! Welcome Lenet!

Here's my take on the gorgeous sketch!

I'm still on a Christmas card kick :) I saw my little jingle bells sitting in a drawer and knew I just had to use them. I really like how they accent this card and the Wonderful Words dies from PTI.

JUGS #112 - 3D / Template Challenge

Howdy all! There's a new challenge over at Just Us Girls and I'm the hostess :)

This week, the challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create a set of cards and a matching holder / packaging! Fun, right?!

I went simple for my cards, something slim and easily packaged...

I actually used a snowflake die to cut a piece of sheet magnet (the kind you can run through a printer). Then I inked up the snowflake with white pigment ink and stuck it to the PTI linen impression plate. I then laid a piece of kraft card stock carefully on top and ran it through my Bigshot. Volia! Pseudo-letter press! The idea is not my own - there's an awesome tutorial by Julie Ebersole on Ellen Hutson. Love this look and will be trying it again :)

Here's the group of cards - I went with more jewel tones for the card bases and sentiments for a bit more contrast.

Now, onto my packaging… I recycled an acetate stamp box. I have a TON of these, can't throw them away (swear, I'm not a hoarder :)). I made a few cuts and adjustments to fit my cards and envelopes. I forgot to take pictures step by step but I will do it soon to show you my process.

I started with a thinner acetate box…..

And ended up with this….

I finished off the box with purple ribbon and another die cut snowflake to match :) I punched two holes in the snowflake and ran the ribbon through it, tied a bow and done!

Hope you like my project!
