CR84FN #68

Time for another B-E-A-U-tiful CR84FN color challenge! But before we get to the colors, we just want to let all our loyal CR84FN followers know that this is the last post before we go on a holiday hiatus - CR84FN will return in all it's glory on Sunday, December 30th for CR84FN69.

But for the next two weeks, we have these fabulous colors to play with..

I absolutely LOVE this color combo - I really do. It is one of my favs to date.

Given the impending holidays, poinsettias seemed to fit the bill for the burgundy in the palette.

I used the Christmas poinsettias die from Papertrey Ink to create a partial die cut in cream cardstock. Then I stamped a few poinsettias on the cardstock, stamping one in place of the die cut. The cream cardstock was dry embossed with the linen impression plate from Papertrey Ink. I then clear embossed a background on a dark grey cardstock base and attached the cream cardstock.

'Tis the Season

Hellooooo out there! I hope all my American friends are enjoying family, friends and fine food on this Thanksgiving weekend.

This is a super fun post for me. I'm super excited to be playing along with the super talented and amazingly sweet Karen Baker from the Bald Dragonfly! The challenge is one Karen has created and is called Carbon Copied.

For this challenge, we choose a common item from our crafty stash and use it in a challenge. Same items, same challenge, but different designs. Fun, right?!?

Karen and I have chosen to use our Quarterfoil plate from Papertrey Ink and we are also playing along with Jay Gee's Nook Challenge #25. This is my first time playing along over at Jay Gee's Nook and I am LOVING the inspiration photo!!!

And here's my take. As you can likely tell, my inspiration came from the top right in the inspiration photo, the pretty ornaments and silver background.

So how did I use the Quarterfoil plate? I used it to create an impression rather than a die cut. Then I tied a bow in a big, beautiful piece of satin ribbon and attached a couple of silver jingle bells.

Karen's work is amazing so be sure and check out her take on our Carbon Copied challenge!

CR84FN #67 Take Two

Week two of the latest CR84FN color challenge.

These colors are so elegant and a perfect, non-traditional color combo for the yuletide season.

I clear embossed a tree on a die cut piece of craft, then adhered a few purple buttons. The background is dry embossed in holly leaves with some tan chalk ink rubbed over the surface to bring out the embossing (thank you Mona for the amazing inspiration!). The sentiment is gold embossed. The pretty gold ribbon is from my stash and it curled like that all on it's own - sweet :)

Just Us Girls #163

Helloooo JUGS fans!

Our sweet Maria's got a fall-inspired color challenge this week over at Just Us Girls...

And here's my card...

Although my temptation was to do something with pumpkins, I went in a little different direction. I bought the Banner Builders set from PTI a while back (quite a while back) but have never used it...EVER. There it sat, uninked and unloved. I thought I would use it a ton when I purchased it, but I seem to be a bit stupefied by it - I want to use it but I have trouble coming up with concepts for it. Anywho, finally I had the chance to show it a little love.

Make sure to check out the JUGS blog to see what the other amazing ladies have put together!

CR84FN #67

It's an exciting time over at CR84FN! We have brand new colors for our challenge this week, but first, some really awesome news!!!

The CR84FN family has grown! Drum roll, please...

Help me in extending a huge, warm welcome to;

These fabulously talented, awe-inspiring ladies are going to add such amazing inspiration to the color challenges - make sure you swing by to say welcome and you'll see what I mean! Welcome ladies!!!! We are so, so ecstatic to have you all aboard!

On to this weeks CR84FN color challenge. These colors are GORGEOUS! I love purple!!!

I had a few ideas for this palette; however, I must admit I had a bit more trouble than I bargained when trying to put together a card...I'll blame it on being tired :) But I seriously do love these colors. Talk about a fabulous, non-traditional color scheme!

The snowflakes are heat embossed in gold, then I used Concord Grape distress ink to make them stand out.
