A Play Date with Mojo

Evening all!
First off I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes - you all made it extra special! I want to say a special thanks to my fellow Just Us Girls DT members and my very sweet friend Tanny P - you guys are the absolute best!!!

I had a great day - Tracy and I went out for brunch as it was a beautiful day and I wanted to sit outside. We had a great time - good food, great company, gorgeous weather, fun people watching - it was totally pleasant and relaxing. The afternoon we spent outside at home gardening and then I got to craft a little in the evening - after a really stressful week, it was so utterly relaxing! Just what I needed :) Thanks to my sweet, sweet husband for my awesome, relaxing birthday weekend!
As part of my birthday gift, Tracy also gave me a long awaited gift - a photo tent! I've been playing with a few exposures tonight, getting the swing of things. I'll have to pick up a few props to showcase my card. Yay! another excuse to shop :)

Now, onto my project... Boy, it's been a while since I've played along with a Mojo Monday sketch. No better time than the present, right? I used the Play Date Cafe color challenge for inspiration.

I didn't have a really light peach color unfortunately, so my peaches are a little on the darker side. I also got my hands on some of that awesome seam binding!!!  Hope you like it :)

Warning!!! This post contains LOADS of exclamation marks...

...cause I've got NEWS!!! I can't believe I've managed to hold it in until now, but here it is....

I made the Just Us Girls DT!!!!!

YAY!!!!! I am SO honored - I love the JUGS blog and the DT gals. What a great group; so supportive and encouraging - I'm really looking forward to working with them. The really fun part is they also chose Kathryn Berthiaume for the DT as well - so there's two of us newbies :) Thanks so much for the warm welcome ladies!

On to business... my first official post as DT member :) Lisa is our Just Us Girls Challenge hostess and creator of this awesome sketch - and I have to say, I love it.

*Wink *Wink Ink is the sponsor of the challenge and they will be giving one randomly selected entrant THREE FREE IMAGES!!! Here's a little more info from Melanie, owner of *Wink *Wink Ink....

"*Wink *Wink Ink is a brand new digital stamp company as of January 2010.  Our images are original, well drawn, and clear with a style you won't find anywhere else!   If you like animals, children and fantasy creatures you will love our stamps!  New stamps are added to our store weekly, so there is always something new to see!  All images are 300 dpi and come in 3 versions- black and white jpg for coloring, transparent png for layering on all your digital creations, and a colored jpg for use as a coloring guide or print and embellish for quick beautiful projects in no time flat!  We hope you stop on by and visit us soon at www.winkwinkink.com!"

If you want to play along and use one of their super cute images, they have a freebie available HERE. Everybody loves a freebie :)

For my card, I used Catnap from *Wink *Wink Ink - how cute is it?!?! I really love this digi :)

I printed the chair on patterned paper from Linen Closet (Die Cuts With a View) and shaded it with a C1 marker. The little kitty was printed on white card stock (PTI) and colored with E08, E11 and E00. I just love this digital stamp - it's so darn cute and has such a cosy feel.

Head on over to the Just Us Girls Challenge site and make sure to visit the DT members blogs;
Owner of *Wink *Wiink Ink, Melanie Montes de Oca, also has a card to share on the JUGS site.

Howdy friends!
I've got two reasons to celebrate - my birthday is right around the corner and my first year blogiversary was June 1st! I can't believe it's been a year already - I guess time flies when you're having fun :)

To celebrate and to show a little appreciation to all my blogging friends, I'm offering up some BlOg CaNdY!!!
The blog candy includes;
All you have to do to qualify for the blog candy is leave a comment here on this post on or before Thursday, June 10, 2010. I'll randomly select one winner on Friday. Only one comment per person please :)

 Here at home, we've got a long awaited deck remodel happening. I CANNOT wait! Here's what our deck looks like now..

It's nice but this picture was taken in the evening when there's a little shade. Most of the day, it gets direct sunlight which means it gets HOT!!! My Canadian blood can't handle it :) So our new deck will have a screened-portion and a smaller, unscreened area for grilling, etc. I can't wait to be able to sit outside more! Even nicer still, the trees you see in the picture will be unharmed. Some of the bushes to the right of the existing deck may need to be moved, but it will be minimal. Sweet!
Here's day 1 - deconstruction....

Here's day 3 - getting framed...

I'm so darn excited :)

We also got our garden up and running (a couple of weeks ago now) - our first attempt at gardening :) Our next door neighbour is a landscaper and all-around-awesome plant guy and is sharing the garden with us in exchange for his knowledge and green thumb :) Here's Tracy getting the tomato plants all set up...

I LOVE homegrown tomatoes and am SO looking forward to tomato-y goodness :) We've also got green peppers, zucchini, squash, and cucumber - if they all continue to grow ok :) We got a bit of a late start and sadly didn't get lettuce in the ground in time.

Sorry for the long post - LOL! Just thought I'd share! Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to leave a comment for the blog candy (if you haven't forgotten about the blog candy by the time you got to the end of my loooooong post :))!
