JUGS #107 - Halloween themed template

It's that time in the Just Us Girls challenge rotation to take things 3D… Halloween-style!

So I thought on this project for a while. Templates and 3D projects…I really like them but, well, let's say they're not the easiest thing for me. While pursuing the web for inspiration, I cam across THIS VIDEO demonstrating how to make lollipop holders. Lollipop holders were already on my radar (especially since I had found really cute, yummy, green, purple and orange lollipops :)), but when I sat down to craft, I realized I really didn't have a nice holder to display the lollipops once I had them decorated :(

Hello, self-standing lollipop holder!

These would look so cute out on a tray or table at a Halloween party or get together. And, they are SO easy to mass produce! Wanna know another awesome thing about these projects?! I was able to make them almost entirely from paper scraps! Score!!!

The main lollipop holder base is made from a strip of 6.5" x  2.25" card stock scored at 2.5" and 4". That's it. Embellish as desired… see, easy ;)

Here's a side pic to show you the really cute lollies.

Let's see what the rest of the talented JUGS DT has whipped up!!!

JUGS #86: Father's Day 3D Project

Father's Day is fast approaching - what better way to honor Dad than with a homemade gift?!  Just Us Girls has got just the challenge to get you up and craftin', to make Dad's day extra-special :)

I decided to use a template by Lauren Meader called For Keepsake. It is such a versatile, fantastic template that you'll find yourself using over and over again!

I used this fantastic DP from Cloud Nine, which is really about the ONLY masculine DP I own aside from plain colors! The template has a little window that I covered with acetate. I wrapped a bit of Fine Linen saddle stitch ribbon around both the cover and the main body of the box for a little extra somethin'.  Isn't the tag so cute…I mean, handsome!

Yumminess lies inside….

These are peanut butter pretzel sandwiches dipped in white chocolate. Oh yes, they are good!!!
I got the recipe from a pin on Pinterest - they're called Peanut Butter "Buckeye" Pretzel Bites. The recipe originally calls for semisweet choclate but I substituted white chocolate 'cause my hubby loves white chocolate. Sadly, these won't make it to my Dad - he's in Canada so I gave this sweet surprise to my wonderful husband! I don't have a closeup of my pretzels cause they don't look near as nice as the ones from the parent recipe but they taste darn GOOD!!! And, even better, they are SUPER quick and easy to make. Win, win :)

On a final note, this is Clare's last challenge as May Guest Designer for JUGS. We're so glad you shared your AMAZING talent with us this month, Clare!!! Please stop by and leave her and the other JUGheads some love! I just love the nickname, "JUGheads… thanks E!!!!

JUGS #81: Spring Theme Template Challenge

Ready to go 3D with  Just Us Girls?  Our dear Kristin has got a fun, seasonal challenge for us all - create a template or 3D project with a spring theme!

I don't know about you but I just love spring and fall - I LOVE making cards in the respective, traditional color schemes. The soft, fresh colors of spring and the earthy, rich tones of fall.

But now it's time to get your SPRING ON!!!

I went with mostly pastel colors and an Easter theme since this is Easter weekend.

So here's my template and matching card...

The template is from Qbee on Splitcoast Stampers - she designed a template to be like the egg boxes from PTI. She's got printable templates and everything!

I made the top of my box from DCWV Garden Party papers. He, he - look at the bow on the front :) I just noticed that as I was posting. Oops - it's straight on the first picture LOL! I used my Beautiful Blooms die to make a flower for the top and Tiny Tags to create the small "enjoy" tag.

The insert has punched holes to hold 6 small eggs but I'm sure you could alter it to hold larger eggs as well. So darn cute!!!

A final close up of my card. I LOVE crocheting those flowers now! I think I could use them on just about every card :) Restraint...show restraint.... I also used matching papers and ribbon.  Aren't those polka dot leaves just too cute?!

So that's about it for me. I'm hoping to squeeze in a bit more crafty time this weekend but we've got a laundry list of projects to tackle too so we'll have to see what happens.

Make sure to visit the other JUGS DT as well as our fabulous guest designer for April,  Teresa Kline.

Enjoy your weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

JUGS #73 - Envelope Gift Box

How about a cool challenge from Just Us Girls

Our fabulous hostess, Pam, has chosen to challenge us with these cute little boxes. They are PeRfEcT for giving cards with lots of embellies or a small set of cards (that's what I plan to use mine for :)). There's a great, easy-to-follow tutorial HERE on Splitcoast Stampers if you're a newbie, like me.

I used the fabulous colors from the latest Play Date Cafe challenge for inspiration.

Have you ever sat down to make a project and things just come together so quickly and perfectly? Sadly, that was not the case for me tonight. I had an idea and I just couldn't make it come to fruition so I switched gears....again....and again.... I won't tell you exactly how long it took me to put this together but let's just say it's wasn't the most productive, efficient time ever :) My original idea was to make this box then put set of matching cards in it but my time dwindled so I'll have to finish that project on another day.

Here's a close up of my tag - I put a tiny aqua crocheted flower next to the sentiment. I really am addicted to crocheting these little cuties!
That's it for me :) Swing by and say hi to our talented guest designer for February, Lori from Afternoon's Delight. Also take a moment to swing by the blogs of the rest of the always wonderful JUGS DT! Their links are in my sidebar to the right :)

Enjoy your weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Valentine Container: JUGS #68

Happy Saturday all!!

Lisa's hosting this week's Just Us Girls 3D/Template Challenge and she's got a good one! The challenge this week is to create a Valentine's container - with Valentine's Day around the bend, think of a sweet person you'd like to surprise with a home-made gift!

So, onto my project.  I found this adorable, free heart cone template HERE and I jazzed it up with DP from my hoard. I'm a patterned paper hoarder. The first step is admitting it... I love patterned paper yet I never seem to know how to use it effectively unless it's one pattern at a time :) So I collect it.
But I did have this adorable paper from American Crafts Romance collection (probably from last year sometime... told you... I hoard :)).

I made a card with a dark chocolate base and the pretty DP on top - pretty simple. Adorned it with a felt heart, some buttons and twine. Added a sentiment to belie the contents of the cone.... yummy, Hershey's kisses :) Time for some close-ups....

Here's the cute little cone (again, I found the free, printable template HERE ). You can see roughly how big it is based on a comparison with the 4.25x5.5 card in the picture above - it holds a decent amount of kisses (sorry, I could have counted but was in a rush :(...). I added a few felt hearts, buttons and twine again. I thought about adding more embellishments but I loved that paper so much that I didn't want to cover it up :) Plus, I'll likely give it to my friend, who's not really a frilly, girly girl :)

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :)

In Suspense...

Well, I'm not really but that's the name of a new, awesome template from Lauren Meader! Yep, My Time Made Easy is the Just Us Girls sponsor this week and we got to play with this KA-UTE template :)
The unique thing about this template is that you can create a package that is designed to hang on a door knob! Think about the possibilities of a sweet little surprise hanging from someone's door :)

For our template challenge this week, you are welcome to use any template you wish; however, Lauren does have a free one available here.

I went with a simple color scheme that was inspired by the fantastic, sparkly My Mind's Eye paper. It was so perfect for this template too!

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :)

Template challenge - JUGS #52

Hey all!

Whew! Saturday again! To top it off, it's the start of my vacation - can I get a "heck ya!"?
I've been craving some crafty time so hopefully can fit lots in this weekend :)

Time for a new JUGS challenge! It's template time and the DT got to work with one of the wonderful templates from My Time Made Easy called "Tuckered out".

I made this little gift set to house a book mark that I made using some beautiful glass beads I picked up at a local craft store.

Here's the book mark (or book thong, as I guess it's correctly termed :)) in action;

They're super simple and fun to make. Cute little gift for a book-lovin' friend :)

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :) Their links are posted on the side bar of my blog.  Make sure you stop by and visit our September featured designer, Lynn Mangan too :) Thanks so much for playing along with Just Us Girls - we love seeing your creations and always appreciate your support!

Also, a little update on my sweet Spencer... he had surgery on Wednesday. The surgeons had to remove more tissue than they thought (including a few tendons) to get all the mass out of his front leg. He's recovering well and we'll find out next week if we managed to get it all.
Here he is with his bandaged little leg :)

He and I want to thank you all so very sincerely for your wonderful well wishes!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

JUGS Template Challenge with CSS

Holy cow, I'm soooo happy it's Saturday! Oh yeah, sooo happy....

One of the reasons Saturday makes me happy is the beginning of a brand new Just Us Girls challenge!

It's time again for a template challenge and Maria is our hostess-with-the-mostess this week. Great news is that Clear and Simple Stamps is our sponsor!!! The kind folks at CSS has offered a $25 gift certificate to the Clear and Simple Stamps store for one randomly chosen participant. Not only that, the player chosen as chic of the week will a free "Spooky Sweets" set! So there are two chances to win!!!
All you have to do to play along is create a template - CSS has free templates for you to use HERE on the sidebar of their blog.

The JUGS DT had the opportunity to play with the Spooky Sweets CSS set. I also used the Trick or Treat template, free from CSS.

Here's a close up of the basket.  I tried my hand at making candies :) I used candy wafers and molds from A.C. Moores - it was fun and tasty! The bottom of the basket has Reese's pieces in separate small bags. I used polyfill to look like a bubbling cauldron :)

And my matching card. The DP is from DCWV.

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :) Their links are posted on the side bar of my blog.  Stop by Jo Westfoot's blog as well - she's our August guest DT.
