Wreath of best wishes

Click HERE or scroll down for my JUGS post

What a gorgeous day! I got to take the dogs outside for a run, which Spencer loved! 6 weeks of restricted activity has unleashed his inner puppy :) It's good to see him like that, really good :)
After a productive morning of cleaning the house, I figured I owed myself a little time in the craftroom - I mean, I've got to be fair to myself right? ;) He, He :)
I made a little card for Laura's sketch using the colourQ challenge colors

I know every time I post, it seems I'm in love with something I'm using but it's really true this time. I LOVE the Wreath for All Seasons set from PTI. What a great, CAS, versatile set. I made a window in the front of the card and stamped my wreath on the inside. The berries are stamped in terra cotta tile - I made them pop a little more using a few drops of Glossy Accents. A close up of the wreath....

That's it for now. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Joy to the World

For my JUGS post, scroll down or click HERE :)

I am so pooped! We spent most of today shopping for various things and it was BUS-Y! The holiday season is certainly well underway! I do love this time of year though :)

I'm playing along with Kazzan's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You tonight and all the music in the mall had put me in the mood for a holiday card :)

I'm loving this PTI set!!! So many Christmas sentiment possibilities.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Fun with Fabric and Flames - JUGS

Intrigued?

It's just a description of what you'll be doing when you play along with the next Just Us Girls wildcard  challenge!
Our lovely hostess, Dana , is challenging all of us to to make a flower out of fabric. But not just any flower, a burnt edge flower!!! Dana found a tutorial on a very lovely website HERE. All you need is some silky material (other material may work too - I just tried what the tutorial mentioned), scissors and flame (a tealight works wonderfully). And if I can do it and not burn down the house, you can too! But seriously, because you will be using open flame, work on a heat resistant surface clear of a lot of material and remember to stay focused :) Oh yeah, if you have a curious kitty, you may want to sequester yourself for a little while... I speak from experience :) I tell you though, the results are soooooo worth it. The flowers look amazing!!!! I put mine on a card but you could make it into a hair clip, a clothing accessory, head band... the sky's the limit! If you decide that flames and fabric are not the safest option for your situation, then just make a fabric flower - we'd love to see any fabric bloom you can create.

On to my take on the challenge;

And here's a close up of that fabulous flower. I definitely do this technique again and I'll give a few other fabrics a go to see the results.

I used the Play Date Cafe colors, black, white and a splash of burgundy as well as the latest sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You.

In other fun news, it's our dear, sweet Kristin's Birthday next Tuesday! Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday to you!!!!! Hope you have a wonderful day, you deserve it!!!

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :)

Thanks so much for playing along with Just Us Girls - we love seeing your creations and always appreciate your support! Make sure you give this week's challenge a try!!!! You won't be disappointed :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Enjoy

Happy weekend!

For my JUGS post, click HERE or scroll down :)

Here's one of this week's sketches over at 2Sketches4You; this beaut is by Rosemarie and I love it!

I used the colors provided by ColourQ. They have 2 color combinations this week; the one below and another for breast cancer awareness month. I'll have another card later using this very important color combo later :)

For some reason, I had a hard time with this one; not sure why but I just sat there mulling over ideas for a good hour or so. Nothing doing... Finally a little bit of inspiration but I'm not sure I'm in love with the end result. I do love the argyle stamp set from PTI though!

Thanks so much for stopping by! TTFN,

Embellish felt color challenge

Click HERE for my JUGS post :)

Love the colors in the latest Embellish Magazine challenge! I just had to play along :) In addition to the colors shown, there is an additional challenge to use felt on your project.

I also used this sketch from 2S4Y;

It's a fantastic sketch! But, as further proof of my mental deterioration, I forgot to post the card in time for the end of the 2S4Y challenge... I'm hoping that my brain will return to near normal function soon :)

This is what I came up with;

I had crocheted this cute flower a while ago and thought I'd put it to good use. Love the way the little petals curl up a bit :) I wanted to also do something a bit different and not add the sentiment to the outside of this card - it does have Happy Birthday on the inside.

The only thing I wish I'd done differently in retrospect would have been to add a yellow button to the flower instead of a brown one. The brown button just seems to blend and yellow might have stood out more... I do love the stamped background though - it was parchment pigment ink from Colorbox stamped on vintage cream paper from Papertrey ink. It's subtle, creating nice, soft yellow leaves. I've been on a real tear with the sewing machine lately too :)

Later taters!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
