Time for a new CR84FN challenge! The colors are so B-E-A-U-TIFUL this week!

Before I move along to my card, we've got a new guest designer for the month of Feb - please help us welcome Monika from Igla I Nitka!!! WELCOME Monika! We're so glad you could share your amazing talent with us!

The lovely wedding pic from the CR84FN graphic particularly inspired me - I wanted to make a wedding card. Such an appropriate quote too :)

I started by masking a rectangular strip and stamping the roses in red. Then I stamped the pink stripes on the bottom and finally added a layer of spring rain polka dot paper. Then I finished it off with a mat stack 3 die cut and ornate stamp. Hope you like it :)

JUGS 121 - Valentine Template/3D project

For my DeNami Product Spotlight, click HERE.

It's template/3D week over at Just Us Girls! Sweet Maria is challenging you to channel your inner St. Valentine and make something all about love.

For my project, I thought I'd make something for my honey. I think a gift certificate is in order for him this Valentine's Day so I made something to contain said gift card.

It's a book gift card holder - the inspiration and template came from a Paper Crafts download - 350 Cards & Gifts Patterns. It's the Book Gift Card Holder by Julie Campbell - and it can be downloaded in jpg or pdf formats and printed off on cardstock. Easy peasy. My hubby likes to read so it's really appropriate.

I tweaked mine just a little and made it a bit more masculine with manly colors :)

Since it is a book, I couldn't resist the sentiment from Love Lives Here, although admittedly that's a tad more feminine ;). I finished it off with a bit of twine to keep it closed. Hopefully, he'll like it :)

DeNami Product Spotlight: Love Script

So clearly I've been messing with my blog layout :) Sorry for the facelifts - I really liked my last layout but it lacked a few key features that I really like for browsing so it got nixed. Hopefully I keep this one around for a while :)

Time for a new DeNami Product Spotlight!!!

In the spotlight this week, we have Love Script! Don't forget, the stamp in the product spotlight is 10% off for one week!!!

For this card, I used DeNami's Heart Background and masked off a rectangle in the center then stamped Love Script in the center. Easy, peasy. I just LOVE the font used on this stamp! So pretty.

Make sure to see what the rest of the amazing DeNami DT have in store!

Week number two of the CR84FN #46 challenge

These colors are so beautiful and SPRING-Y! So much so that the flowers practically stamped themselves :)

I repeatedly stamped poppies in yellow and pink - then used a simple but beautiful sentiment. I thought it complimented the fun, bright nature of the card. Hopefully it'll make a good friend smile someday soon ;)

JUGS #120: Color Challenge

How about a beautiful color challenge over at Just Us Girls? Take a look at the awesome colors chosen by our lovely Vicki...

I've had a hankering to make cards with white space recently. So my take on the JUGS color challenge is reflective of my need for "white" open spaces :)

Just a little something simple :) Three little pink and red hearts - the hearts are negative die cuts with pink card stock stamped with red polka dots in the background.

There's no place like home

Indeed, there's absolutely no place like home :)

After our big move a few months back, I am really enjoying being close to my family and being in "familiar" territory. I grew up in Atlantic Canada and I can't tell you how great it is to be back. I've gotten to see my parents a few times already and I'm living mere hours from my sister, so we see each other every few weeks. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things I miss about living south of the border and I'll always hold a bit of those places in my heart. They've helped shape who I am, I've made amazing friends and contacts, had exceptional experiences -  and there's not one step I've taken that I'd do differently (well, maybe one or two, smaller steps ;)).

So when I saw "The Map to your Heart Challenge" at over at MoxieFab, I knew I had to play along. Not only because of the awe-inspiring, map-containing projects I've seen in blogland, but because our journey had me inspired.

I guess my reliance on all things digital was a bit of a pitfall in this case as I had NO maps in the house. Not one. I can blame that on my GPS and my iPhone - I haven't even printed a map in years. So I found one of Atlantic Canada online. Then I printed it in black and white, then another in color so I could create a little spotlight. I placed a little dot for my home sweet home :) I took some inspiration from Jessica Witty's card spotlighted on the MoxieFab post and from a beautiful card that my sweet blog friend, Maureen, sent me after we moved (Thanks Moe!).

Got a few personal pics to share, feel free to stop reading here :)
There's a golf course just a few minutes walk from our house. In the off season, they allow people to walk on the cart paths, which is great for me and my golden boy! We had a little snow recently (Yay snow! I know, I have a problem ;)) and I took my Spencer for a run. He's getting a little older now and has certainly slowed down but he LOVES the snow so we bundled up and trekked thought the snow on a beautiful, still morning this past week. It was just one of those moments - me, the dog, peace and quiet, and beauty all around. The kind of time that affirms life, the good, important parts of life :)

What a handsome fella :)

This next picture make me smile - he's running and hopping through the deeper snow, just having a blast. Love his flopping ears and wagging tail! You can see is foot prints where he'd been running around. Not bad for a senior ;)

That's about it for me. Here's wishing you a tail wagging, ear flopping kinda week :)

CR84FN #46

For my JUGS post, click HERE.

Hello all! You might notice that I've changed things up here on the ol' blog in honor of the new year. New look for a new year :)

Speaking of new, we're bringing you a brand new CR84FN challenge
***Just so you know, CR84FN 46 will be ending on Wed, Jan 25****

Now take a gander at these fabulous pastels...

So beautiful! Made me immediately think of spring. Don't you love that quote on the CR84FN graphic? Sigh, so true… yet so easy to forget sometimes.

I was inspired by the pattern on the pink bag on the graphic. I thought about doing a subtle damask pattern. Here's what I came up with...

CAS but I like it. I fought the urge to add more. The damask pattern was stamped with white pigment ink, that's it. I didn't emboss; I wanted it to look subtle. When you turn it in the light it definitely becomes more subtle. You can kind of see the difference in the next picture where I turned the card slightly to show the damask pattern.

For the sentiment, I actually printed this one on card stock. Sadly, no pretty stamp fonts like this one. Then I distressed the edges of the sentiment piece using scissors - in retrospect, I wish I'd torn it but it turned out ok nonetheless. Then a simple finishing ribbon treatment. Easy peasy :)
