Wild Card - JUGS # 44

It's a Just Us Girls wild card challenge!

Pam's DD is getting married this weekend, and in honor of the wonderful nuptials, Lisa, our hostess this week, is challenging all of us to make a card with a wedding theme.

ADDENDUM: This card also qualifies for the Moxie Fab challenge: Let's Do Classy and Elegant.

I used some gorgeous sei poppy paper - I love how subtle it is. I wanted a nice pop of a rich color - what color could be better than red? The rose was stamped with a text background in smokey shadow ink then stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. I added some shading with my R29 copic marker but it's hard to see in the picture. Here's a close up...

The ribbon is plain ol' white seam binding (Hug and Snug). The scalloped paper is smokey shadow cardstock that has been dry embossed with the In Bloom impression plate from Papertrey Ink. We're going to a wedding in August so I've got just the occasion for this one :)

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets and to see a pic of Pam with her lovely daughter. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :) Their links are posted on the side bar of my blog. This is Debbie's last week as our Guest Designer for the month - she's done such a wonderful job with her gorgeous creations so make sure you check out her blog and leave a lil' bit o' love. Thanks so much for playing along with Just Us Girls - we love seeing your creations and always appreciate your support!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Guest Designer at Creative Belli Blog!

For LeAnne's Birthday Blog Hop, just scroll down or CLICK HERE :)

Happy hump day!

I was so excited the other day when Robin from Creative Belli Blog asked me to be the Guest Designer this week! I was only too excited to oblige :)

You should really check out this sweet challenge blog. At the Creative Belli Blog, with every challenge they invite you to use your old and forgotten embellishments. Now who doesn't have some of those? :)

This week they had a sketch challenge. Part of the sketch challenge was to create a card with something that moves. I decided that I'd make a shaker card! There's a tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers HERE.

The sketch is great! Right up my alley - clean and not too fussy. I used microbeads (Martha Stewart) to create my shaker card. This is the first shaker card that I've created and it was definitely easier that I thought it would be. You can put other things in place of the microbeads, like glitter or flower soft (how great would a snow globe card containing polar flower soft be?!?!).
Here's a closer view of the shaker part.

Hope you all enjoy! It was certainly my pleasure to be a guest designer over at Creative Belli Blog! Make sure you check out this awesome challenge blog :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

For this birthday card, I used the sketch from 2sketches4you

Dublin-style

I love the most recent Taylored Expressions sketch so much that I had to make another card with it :)
This time I used the Play Date Cafe's colors. I also loved making the paper clip bookmarks - had to try that again too :)

This time I made a comfy chair from black felt and stamped the chair on top in white ink. ADDENDUM: I first saw this idea on Nichole Heady's blog HERE.
The inside....

Here's a close up of the bookmark...

July Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Another month down, another Papertrey Blog Hop! I love this time of the month 'cause it usually means I've received my new Papertrey goodies :)

The Blog Hop Challenge this month is to use office supplies in your project.

I've wanted to make these paper clip bookmarks for some time now - man, were they easy! I'm not sure what I was waiting for :) There's a great tutorial HERE.
Here's a close up of the bookmark in place...

I used card board from the back of stack of patterned paper, which was die cut with nesties, as the base. Then I used the same die to cut a piece of patterned paper. The thread in the button is actually DMC memory thread - it's awesome. I found it at my local Joann's Fabrics. The paperclip is a large one from Staples. Another shot with the bookmark moved just a little....

Here's the inside...

I used the latest Taylored Expressions sketch for inspiration - I LOVE this sketch!!! It works so well with these little paper bookmarks.

This card also qualifies for the Pink Elephant challenge this week which is to use brown.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have fun hopping!!!

Stretch that plastic!

The challenge over at Pile It On this week is to stretch that plastic! This means you can use any kind of plastic or stretchy material on your projects!

This week's sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps - check out their super cute collection of stamps!

The prize for a random participant this week is 7 free digis from the Bugaboo Store!!!!

Here's my take on the challenge. I chose Scarlette Cafe from Bugaboo - she's so darn sophisticated... not a bit like me :)

Unfortunately, I didn't have much in the way of plastic product I could use (or at least I could think of using - I'm sure if I were creative enough, I could have found a use for another common plastic product :)). I really didn't have any stretchy material (that would look good on a card anyway :)). I did use a plastic button and a plastic sticker on the interior of the card. I printed her out and colored her with copics (B91, 93; YG11, 13, 17; B41, 45, 37; E41, 43, 47).

This card also qualifies for the following challenges:
Pile It On: Stretch that plastic
Clean and Simple FTL100: Sketch
Color Throwdown: marina mist, not quite navy, wild wasabi
Practical Scrappers: Use stash older than 1 year
Gingersnap creations #60: Shades of blue
Gingersnap creations #62: Markers
Hand Full of Stamps: Punch the stress out

Make sure you check out the wonderful creations of the PIO DT - their links are on my side bar. Hop on over to Pile It On and check out the challenge deets!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Template Challenge: JUGS 43

Saturday, YAY!!!! I am SOOO glad the weekend is here!

To start your weekend off with some fun, Dana is hosting a great template challenge over at Just Us Girls

For this template challenge, JUGS is welcoming back Kelleigh Ratzlaff of Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs
Kelleigh is offering up a $10 gift certificate to one lucky participant this week - all the more reason to get busy with your templates! Use any template you wish; if you don't own any there are a number of free ones available - here's a free one from Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs

Kelleigh generously provided the JUGS DT with a template and I chose this wonderful Gable Box

What I love about the gable box template is that it is easy to assemble, very sturdy and self closing.

It was easy, peasy - I just printed out the template on my patterned paper (on the back so the lines wouldn't show), cut it out, scored an assembled. It literally took less than 10 minutes for the basic box! I used sei dill blossom patterned paper for the box base, then used spring moss and berry sorbet (PTI) card stock. The little tag on the gable box came with the package of sei paper.

Here's a closer look at my card...

I used a technique I saw first on Betsy Veldman's blog HERE. The flowers are die cut from the same color as the underlying paper - what a cool, pseudo-embossing effect! I had a lot of fun making this set - it just all sort of fell in place :) I actually made this with a specific, hand-made gift in mind. I don't have it completed yet, but I'll share it when I get it done.

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :) Their links are posted on the side bar of my blog. Debbie Marcinkiewicz is our guest designer this month, so make sure you check out her gorgeous creation as well!

Thanks so much for playing along with Just Us Girls - we love seeing your creations and always appreciate your support!

Hope you all have a great weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Mmm, I love purple

I do. I really love purple. Well, I love color. I don't really have a favorite. Different colors for different circumstances :)

On that note, I have a very purple card to share with y'all.

I went without a sentiment on the front, "au naturel" if you will :) The colors are from the Play Date Cafe - how fresh and fun are these colors?! I love lupins - reminds me of my childhood. They grew wild all around our house.

The sketch is from Waltzing Mouse...
Love the Waltzing Mouse sketches - pretty clean and simple. This is the inside is also fairly simple...

Finally, the detail of the violet. The violet was colored with copics (V000, V12, V15, V99). I colored the center with a black spica but it's hard to see the glitter in the picture. Since I didn't have any lime green ribbon, I colored some seam binding with a copic (G14) - works like a charm :)

That's it for me. Thanks so much for stopping by. I really appreciate you taking the time to look around!

Color Challenge: JUGS #42

Saturday is here again and it's time for a new challenge over at Just Us Girls! This week it's a color challenge...

... and it's my first time as hostess!!!!

The color inspiration came when I saw this fabulous throw on Anthropologie. Love the fun, vibrant colors. Based on the throw, I came up with this little ditty;

The picture of the throw inspired me to stamp on linen fabric using Guide Lines II (PTI). I kept it pretty simple as I wanted the background to stand out. As a reference, I used Papertrey Ink's orange zest, enchanted evening and simply chartreuse.

We've also got another reason to celebrate this coming week - July 20th is...

Maria's birthday!!!

The DT all made birthday cards as a twist on the color challenge to wish sweet Maria a happy birthday!!!! Make sure you swing by her blog and leave her some birthday love :)

If you already haven't, see the JUGS site for all the challenge deets. Don't forget to swing by the blogs of the other JUGS DT gals and show them a little love :) Their links are posted on the side bar of my blog. Also be sure and swing by the blog of our guest DT member, Debbie.
